Certification Center
Welcome to the Alliance Airways Certification Center. Once you have mastered the topics and lessons found in the Alliance Airway's Flight School Training Center, it is time to test your aviation knowledge and skills in the form of certification flights. Each certification flight includes a predetermined flight route (check ride) which examines the pilot's knowledge and skills for the task at hand and a small quiz about the flight that was flown. Certification flights are to be taken in order, begining with the VFR Certification. Each
certification flight will tests the pilot on various aspects of aviation,
beginning with the basics (VFR Certification), then progressing to more advanced skills such as navigating through the complex jetway system, ILS approaches, etc...
As new levels of certification are aquired, the certification flights become more challenging such as, being able to
land during thunderstorms with winds gusting up to 25
knots, as well as being able to land the aircraft with
only the use of the NDB and DME with virtually no visibility.
Our certification flights make use of real life navigational charts and resources.
Some of our certification flights will be aircraft specific. In aviation, before a pilot can fly an aircraft they must be certified to fly it (aircraft type specific certification). Alliance Airways mimicks real world aircraft type certifications for some of our more challenging aircraft, such as the Concorde.
Upon successful competion of each certification flight, a pin reflecting the pilot's accomplishemt is placed on the pilot's Alliance Airways ID Card.
VFR Certification - The VFR certification is divided into two parts. Part 1 will take the pilot on a round robbin flight that starts and ends at KDKX, the Alliance Airways training center. This initial Round Robbin flight will teach pilot various VFR procedures by going through them step by step. Part 2 then takes what was learned from part 1 and puts the pilot in control of the Round Robbin flight which also begins and ends at KDKX.
Online Certification - Alliance Airways uses the VATSIM and Pilot Edge networks to fly online. Alliance Airways pilots must be online certifed before they are allowed to connect to VATSIM with the Alliance call sign (AXX).Please see the The Online Center for more information in the Online Certification.
Concorde Certification - The Concorde is a delicate acf to fly. The CG must be carefully balanced during all portions of the flight using the forward and aft fuel tanks. A POH and CG graph are included for proper CG locations during specific portions of the flight. The Alliance Airways Concorde must be flown with the same numbers as the real Concorde (CG, airspeeds, vertical speeds, etc...). No other XPLANE Concorde is flown with such precision.
